The Deccan Odyssey is a shared venture between the Indian Railway & Maharashtra tourism. The resounding success enjoyed by the Palace on Wheels luxury train in Rajasthan, encouraged the Indian Railways to introduce the Deccan Odyssey. The onboard services in the train are rendered by the internationally renowned Taj group of Hotels. The train departs every Wednesday from the Mumbai CST station and takes you on a mesmerizing journey through the heart of India.
In deluxe cabin, the rates for triple sharing is US$ 1,995, for Double sharing its US$ 2,450 and for single occupancy you will have to pay US$ 3,395. If you’re planning a trip during the Christmas/New Year season, you will have to pay a 10% extra holiday surcharge. The travel cost includes accommodation in private A/C cabin which features attached toilets and shower cubicles, breakfast, lunch and dinner, excursion costs and sightseeing tours in A/C buses with English speaking guides to help you around. Bottled drinking water and a backwater boat cruise on Konkan coast is arranged for. The tariff does not include hard & soft drinks, laundry, video camera fee at sightseeing spots, adventure water sports activities in Goa, gratuity and tips, porter charges and travel insurance
Children between the age of 5 and 12 will be charged half the adult rates and they will have to share the cabin. Bookings are allotted in the Private Cabins, which have been categorized as Twin Bedded, Double Bedded, Triple Bedded and Deluxe suite Cabins. There is also provision for a part 3-4 night journey as Mumbai-Goa or Goa-Mumbai. Due to the heavy monsoon the train suspends the service from May to September.
